After his parents split up, rebellious twenty-something Shen Chang is forced to take a job as a dishwasher in a constantly crowded restaurant. He loses the job shortly afterwards, but he gains dubious "friends" who turn out to be a well-connected criminal gang and make headlines in the city with fights and break-ins. They are impressed by Shen's fighting spirit and courage and persuade him to help them with a robbery. Shen is supposed to give them access to a warehouse where his father works as a night watchman. When his father is killed in the process, he begins a bloody campaign of revenge.
